Center for the Arts Evergreen’s annual gala fund raising evening – “Evening for the Arts: Dead Artists Society” – will be held on Tuesday, October 6, at Christie’s of Genesee.  Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in costume, but costumes are not necessary.

This annual event is filled with never-ending fun and entertainment, complete with dinner, open bar, a silent and live auctions of art work, exotic trips and services. The silent auction will highlight a selection of wonderful fine arts and crafts from Summerfest.

Each year Center for the Arts Evergreen honors a member of the Evergreen community for exemplary service and dedication to the arts as “CAE Arts Person of the Year.” This year’s honor goes to Karen Lindsay, a longtime member of Sculpture Evergreen (aka Arts for the Mountain Community).

Karen served as President of Arts for the Mountain Community and was active in creating its educational outreach program. Karen, who always signs her communications “Arts Enthusiast,” has been active in promoting, supporting and actively advocating for the arts in Evergreen.

She has taught art history courses at the Center for the Arts Evergreen and has led educational field trips to the Denver Art Museum, the Clifford Still Museum, Santa Fe and Taos. Karen has also taught in the University of Denver’s acclaimed “Olli” continuing adult educational program. As a member of the CAE Capital Campaign Committee, she is leading the charge towards moving the art center into a new home.
