Meet Dave Loomiller

In a community full of exceptionally nice people, Dave Loomiller has to rank as one of the nicest guys around. His engaging smile, thoughtful manner, and enthusiasm in learning about others contribute to a warm, delightful experience when interacting with him. These qualities served him (and his clientele) well in his position as Marketing and Public Relations Director for Evergreen National Bank for 6 years.

Dave is retired from that position now, but maintains an active engagement with the Evergreen community through his involvement with the Evergreen Chapter of the American Legion, Post 2001 and is well known throughout the town partly because of all his participation with the group.

The American Legion is the only service organization chartered by an Act of Congress in 1919. It is made up of veterans who have participated in military service during one of seven different periods of foreign wars.  Dave was a charter member of this Evergreen group when it started in 2001 and he has been involved in leadership positions ever since. The group started with 12 members and now has over 100 members. They have greatly expanded their community involvement in the last 10 years and members of the group participate in many Evergreen community activities. Dave seems to be involved in almost all of those activities and is rightly proud of the huge presence that Post 2001 has in our town.

Dave helped to spearhead one of their biggest activities, which was the planning and development of the Veterans Commemorative Walk in Buchanan Park. If you haven’t visited it yet, be sure to stop by. He also helps train members who volunteer for the Honor Guard and Drill Team, which participates in funeral services for veterans, and he marches in events such as the Evergreen Rodeo and the Indian Hills 4th of July parade.

Dave is a native Coloradoan who left for 24 years to live and work in a variety of places throughout the United States. He spent many years working in industrial paper and packaging and since his retirement from the bank, has done some consulting in that field. He always had a strong yearning to return to Colorado and is delighted to be living in the Evergreen part of Clear Creek County with his wife Kate, who is widely considered one of the most talented artists in our area, known for etchings on glass.  Kate and Dave are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this month!

Dave takes advantage of any opportunity to promote the good works of the American Legion and encourages anyone who wants to participate in the brick paver program for the Commemorative Walk to go to www.legionpost2001.org. for more information. This program encourages residents of this area to recognize friends and family members, both living and deceased, who have been in the armed services. Your family member’s name can be imprinted on one of the bricks at the site.
