Meet Dale Tolan

When Dale Tolan was a young boy living in Denver, his grandparents would bring him to Evergreen during the summers. He loved the wide open spaces of Bergen Park in those days and relished the opportunity as a city boy to see wildlife and smell the fresh, cool air.

Those early experiences made an indelible impression and left him with a strong yearning to actually live in this mountain community, and in the 1980’s he moved up here and has been intricately involved in Evergreen life ever since.

Dale is well-known in Evergreen for his years of commitment to the Evergreen Rodeo. His area of focus has been on recruiting, developing and managing the vendors who help make the event such a town favorite. Dale credits his community involvement at least partially to his wife, Kristy Tolan, who is really involved with a lot of activities in the community, especially the Rodeo. It has been a lot of fun for them to work on projects together as well as separately.

The husband-wife team also volunteer for Jefferson County Open Space. They are part of the Equine Park Patrollers who help maintain security and the safety in the parks.

As a volunteer in the Evergreen Fire Dept for 14 years, Dale is proud of all the good works he and his colleagues have done over the years.

Dale was the owner and manager of the Pizza Hut in Evergreen from 1984-1997. When it closed, he found that he was in high demand as a handyman and has been doing this ever since. His skills include a wide variety of activities including doing drywall installations, tiling, fencing and minor electrical repairs. He also runs a snow plow business in the winter.

He reports that his business is almost entirely developed through word of mouth. He’s never really had to formalize his marketing; and he keeps very busy, likes the variety, and has become acquainted with many of our citizens through this enterprise. Long-time residents in Evergreen marvel at his varied talents and enjoy the confidence they feel in his reliability and high standards of work performance.

Dale was an active member of Blue Spruce Kiwanis for many years and still makes a tradition of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army each holiday season.

Like many of us who live in Evergreen, Dale feels a deep sense of appreciation for his mountain community and the closeness he feels with nature. He says he wakes up each morning grateful to live in the best place in the world.
