John and Kathleen Davis were honored on Sunday, August 28th, as the king and queen of the Evergreen Players – two volunteers who have helped the organization in every way possible over the past fifty years.  More than 100 friends and family showed up at Mount Vernon Country Club to raise a toast to the husband-and-wife team who have devoted their entire married life to the theatre in Evergreen.

They were married in March of 1966 and moved to Colorado shortly thereafter, settling in Evergreen.  Soon after they noticed an article in the Canyon Courier announcing that the Players would be meeting at the Public Service building.  They attended and each signed up to help with the next production, and that was the start of the story – 50 years ago.  

Members of the improv team – EPIC – reenacted significant moments of the Davises' time with the organization.  One skit depicted the time an actor failed to show up for a performance, and John got a last-minute call at home, requesting he be a stand-in.  In another part of the show on Sunday, their daughters stood before a microphone and told stories about how the show had to go on no matter what. Grandchildren even took part in the program.
